December

My how time goes.  December was a fun month.  Jacob really gets Christmas this year and begged me to put our tree up the week before Thanksgiving!  I decided to do it since I would be putting up decorations the following week.

This year we've had a lot of snow.  Jacob and I went with some friends sledding on a hill nearby.

For our wedding we got a set of shot glasses from a co-worker of Jason's.  Sometimes when Jacob wants soda we get them out and call them our "taster" glasses.  That way he gets a taste without chugging the whole can.   Here is an evening of "tasting."

Did we drink a little too much??????  Jacob looks a little sloshed.  :)

At preschool Jacob had a Christmas program where they sang songs for us and afterward had treats to share with us.  Very cute!

We decorated a gingerbread house with cousins.

Christmas was very fun.  Jacob got the walkie talkies he asked Santa for.
He got a MP3 player with a camera and headphones.
He got a new church suit--boring for him, but makes mom happy.
But the hit of Christmas was Phineas and Ferb sheets.  I saw them at the store and bought them on a whim.   He LOVES them!  Funny what turns out to the a "great" present!
We spent Christmas day with Jason's family at his Dad's house...eating, opening gifts and playing games.  That night we got to talk to his brother Stephen, who is on a mission in the Philippines.  Can't believe 2012 is over and 2013 is here!!

Knew It Was Bound To Happen One Day

Jacob likes to shave with Jason sometimes.  Jason has an old razor that he lets Jacob use.  The back of the razor has a trimmer to cut sideburns.  Yesterday, when Jason cut his sideburns, Jacob decided to pop the trimmer open on his razor and cut his too.  Before Jason could stop him he had done a little trimming.

Here is his little trim.  Could have been worse.  :)

San Diego and Disneyland

Things have been so busy I have not been able to get this post done!

4 a.m. just after he found out we were headed to Disneyland

Saturday, Oct. 3rd we pulled out of our driveway at 4 a.m. on our way to San Diego.  Jason's brother, Jared, and his family and Jason's sister, Karen, came along.  The drive down went well and we arrived around 4 p.m.   We unloaded and then  headed to dinner at TGI Fridays.  By the time we got there we were all tired and hungry!

The next day was Sunday so we went over to the San Diego temple to see the grounds.  It was General Conf. weekend and we thought they would have a visitor's center where we could go and hear some of Conf.  They didn't so we just walked around.

We then headed over to the Mormon Battalion visitor's center, took a tour (where Jared was volunteered to show what the men would look like with gear on),

had lunch, panned for gold and then listened to most of the afternoon session of General Conf.

We then headed down to Coronado to see the beach.  It was Sunday and the only day we really had to see the water.  The kids had so much fun.  When we go again we need to dedicate a day to the beach!

Monday morning we headed to the Safari Park. On the way Grace (the baby) had a diaper blow out and needed to be changed.  We found a Target and were going to  buy new clothes, but found that it didn't open until that coming Sunday!

Once we got to the park Stephanie took her into the bathroom to give her a "bath."

The park is about 1800 acres and fewer animals than the zoo, but in larger areas to see.

Brothers comparing their "wing span" to that of the California Condor.
After the zoo we came back, changed into swimsuits and went to an inlet of water close to our hotel to let the kids play in the water again.

That night we had pizza by the pool and were serenaded by a gentleman playing the guitar.  We went back to our rooms and Grace, Jared's youngest who is 1 1/2 fell in their room and loosened her tooth.  Jared and Stephanie's room was across the hall and Jason had gone over to talk to them about something. I followed pushing the metal door lock open. Well, I didn't push it open enough and when the door shut the lock caught and locked us out!

We went to the front desk and they had to cut it off so we could get back in.

Tuesday morning we left for Sea World.  Jacob loved the rides!  He thought the animals were OK, but wanted to find things to ride.  We did Shipwreck Rapids
We wouldn't have gotten quite as wet on this ride if someone hadn't paid a quarter to spay us as we went by!

and then saw the Killer whale show.

We got wet doing both!!

We rode the tea cup and Elmo's Fish ride several times.

Jacob played on the bounce pad  and then he and Dad climbed up into the "tree house" that was above and had ramps and tunnels connecting several playhouses.

Jacob and Mylee...he had such a fun time with cousins on the trip!
That night we went to dinner and Jacob sat by me in the booth.  The entire time he was leaning on me and insisting that he wanted to lay down on my lap.  It was about 7 p.m. and I knew he was tired so I made him sit next to me and lean while he ate.  When we got back into the room Jacob  BEGGED us to let him go to bed. He was soooo tired. We changed him, he got in and went right to sleep.

The next day was the San Diego Zoo.
This was day 5 of our trip and day 3 of doing things.  In the Zoo you can walk 3-4 miles to see everything, but luckily they also have a bus that takes you around to see most of it.  We opted for that.  This picture says it all about how I felt that day.  I don't know how Karen caught this, but my legs were so tired!!

We rode the bus around the zoo and that helped a lot!
After the zoo we loaded up and headed up to Anaheim.  We made a stop for gas and Jason's car wouldn't start again.  His battery was dead.  Jared pulled along side, did a jump start and we made it the rest of the way to our hotel.

Once we were at our new hotel and unloaded, Jason and Jared went to the local Walmart, bought a battery and put it in.  We were good to go the rest of the trip.

Ah, Disneyland and Disney California.  On Thursday morning we headed into Cars Land...knowing we would have to wait in line since there were no fast passes left by the time we got there.
We went to Luigi's flying tires and waited....

....And waited.......did things to keep us amused while we waited.....

Finally we got on the ride and had fun for the few minutes we were on it.

The ride where you can drive the cars was closed due to a SMALL amount of drizzle.  They won't run them with any water on the track.

From there we went to Disney Jr. Live.  That was a stage show with Mickey Mouse, Handy Manny and Jake and the Never Land Pirates.  It was soooo fun to see Jake's face as he watched the characters come on stage.  He loved and that was so fun to watch!
Here he is with his cousins dancing to the show.

Next we rode the Monsters Inc. ride.  It was great because it was a short wait..no lines!

We saw the Phineas and Ferb show.  The kids could go out and dance with them and Jacob was right out there in front dancing his heart out.  It was so funny!!

Too bad Phineas and Ferb didn't walk around for photos.  This was the best we could get after the dancing.

This was all in Disney California.  We spent a little time that day in Disneyland where Jacob discovered Tomorrow Land.

Friday we started in Disneyland.  Some of the longest lines on earth.
They were decorated for Halloween and it was cute.
In Tomorrow Land we rode Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters and Jacob purchased his own Astro Blaster with money Karen had given him (and all the kids).  They could choose how they wanted to spend it and this is what he wanted.

After spending much of the morning riding Star Tours, Astro Blasters, Autopia and visiting Inovations (a building with gadgets of tomorrow) we headed over on the raft to Pirate Island.  Jacob loved that too!

 There was a tree house

Caves to climb through, bridges to cross...and at the end...

....gold to discover!!  He did not want to leave.

But we pushed on and found King Arthur's sword...flew on Dumbo...

Went to Toon Town with Karen and saw Goofy's house, the town post office and fire truck.

We then took the monorail over to Goofy's kithen for dinner where different characters came over to say hi.

When we were done we were tired!  After dinner we went back to Disney California for one last ride.  It was 8:30 at night so we went back to Monsters Inc. (figuring the line wouldn't be too long).  We rode it a couple of times and headed back to the hotel.

We left Saturday  morning at 7 a.m. and when we arrived home we found all was well.

It was a fun trip...if I were to do it again, I would spend a day at the beach in San Diego, do Sea World and 3 days at Disneyland.  So fun!
