Hair Cut

I've worn my hair long for years. I think the last time I wore it shorter was from about 1995-1997. My sisters have said cut it (for a while now) and when I went in last Thursday I was ready for something different. It is not drastic, but it is a little different.

Problem with my hair is it is STRAIGHT. So when it is short, it begins to look dead by midday (in my opinion). So longer was easier for me to keep it looking less straight. Oh well, I like it pretty well and it will grow.

Don't Know Who This Was Harder On, Jacob or Us

Our kitchen counter no longer has these.

A week ago tonight we took Jacob off of his last bottle. We had a great routine going. We'd get him ready for bed, sit down in the rocker in his room, he'd drink what he wanted, pushed the bottle away and dived into his bed. If a babysitter followed our routine, he'd usually go to bed for them without any problem either.

Last Tuesday night, when we didn't have a bottle and we didn't have a new routine he sobbed when we put him in bed, looking at us like, what did I do to deserve this? Where is my bottle? Jason and I felt so badly. The next night was also difficult. Finally on the third night we brought in his sippy cup with water and a few books. He was willing to sit and whimper, tightly holding the sippy cup and reading books with me. By this weekend we would read a couple of books, he'd get tired of them, we put him in bed, and he cried only a little.

During the last year, as I've weaned him off each bottle feeding I was a little sad that I had to give up that automatic cuddle time. Yes, you can cuddle with your little one during different times of the day, but that time was so easy and I (and Jason) just loved to hold him while he relaxed and kicked back in our arms.

Jason said, I don't know if this is harder on him or us. :) Things are getting better and the routine of reading books does work, but it is not as easy as the good old bottle. He is growing up!

Raisins, Dancing, Friends,Phones Swimming and Fish

Jacob is definitely my child regarding some foods. He LOVES raisins. He loves them in his oatmeal (like his mom) and will eat them anywhere, any time.

Jacob is a great eater. He eats whatever we're having for dinner, from chicken to curry, he'll eat it. He loves fruits and about the only thing I have tried feeding him that he doesn't seem to like is tuna fish.

Jacob also loves music. We were at our neighborhood park last week for Draper days. They had a band playing and he bounced around to the beat of the music and at the end of each song he clapped. I did not teach him to do that. He also likes to dance with mom (which I like because Jason is not a big fan of dancing and sees very little use for it).

A few weeks ago I had a chance to get together with some friends that I worked with in Young Women's about 10 years ago. Mikki and Kylie were able to come and brought their kids. They are the type of friends with whom you can just pick up where you left off from and chat--even though it has been about 2 1/2 years since I last saw them. Had a fun time!

Jacob loves anything with buttons. He has his own cell phone (my old one), but it doesn't beep etc. when he pushes the buttons. He will use it, but prefers my current phone, or our home phone. He will also put the TV remote control up to his ear and (during the day) be found saying a jumbled version of, "Hi Dad!" Here he was walking around with my phone and I didn't want it to drop, so we tucked it in his pants (his very own cell phone holder) and he walked around with it.

Last Friday Jacob's cousins came over for a swim and BBQ. As long as the water is not frigid he'll go in. Here he is with Abby, Mylee and Emma.

On Saturday we took him to Cabella's to see the fish. He liked them for a time, but lake fish are rather dull in color. Tropical fish are much more intersting to look at!

Did I also mention that he is interested in getting his driver's license?

Update for Brook (My Niece), Jessie Ann (and anyone else feeling the need to be addresses here)

I will update soon Brook. Jacob is now at the age when he will not let me get on the computer if he is around. So, I have to wait for his one hour nap to get it done, or wait until evening (and by that time I am tired).

So, a new one is coming. :)
