June1

Summer has arrived!

Thursday, June 2nd Emma graduated.  They had a family BBQ at Jared's house.

Daniel and Abby had started the home MTC and they were both there and on their computers attending class.  Here is Daniel with missionary on top and summer on the bottom.
Joy had this chair and didn't like
it after a while.  She brought it over
for Jacob

On Saturday, the 4th, Hannah was in town so her sister did a baby shower for her.

Since Hannah and Stephen were in town we decided to try for family pictures.  After church we went down to Josh and Irina's, Heather (Hannah's sister) took pictures for us up in the canyon.  Here are a couple of pictures Randy took with his phone.  I'll try and add a family one later.  They turned out OK.

After pictures we went back to Josh's for dinner and to celebrate May and June birthdays.  Jason got a Star Wars blanket.
This summer Jacob is doing the Alta HS Mountain biking team.  Here is a picture of an early Tuesday morning ride at 6:15.  They ride Tuesday mornings, Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and some Saturday mornings.

Tom Cathey has gotten movie tickets from a
perk at work. They have invited us
to go along.  This time is was Jurassic World.
Movie was OK...very little plot, but the
dinosaurs and graphics were good.

Orson Gygi had a grill fest at their store the Saturday before Father's day.  They had classes all day long on things you could cook on the Trieger.  It was a lot of fun!

Dropping things off for Trek

Sleeping beauty

The Saturday before Trek we took Jacob's things to the church.  He had a 5 gallon bucket packed and when we arrived they had us put his sleeping bag and blanket in a bag, labeled it and put it aside to pack on the truck.  All ready for Monday morning.

Sunday afternoon we went down to Mom's.  Kristina, Shane and Conner had driven up from Arizona to visit and so Conner could go to Trek with Brook and Max (who were Ma and Pa in their Stake).  They went up to Martin's Cove.

Our trek began Monday morning.  We took Jacob over to the church at 6:30 a.m. all ready to go.

then they were off!

I forgot to take a picture of Jacob when he got back from trek.  He was worn out and dirty.  We even saw Itai as both were looking for their gear to take home.  Here Jacob is all cleaned up.  When asking how he liked it he said, "It was good, hard, sometimes boring, but it was good.  I don't know if I'd do it again, but I might."  I told him it sounded like a woman who had just given birth after a hard labor....It was good, hard, but good...I don't know if I'd do it again, but I might."  😅

When we were at Mom's, on the Sunday before Trek, the cousins talked about going to Splash Summitt.

We drove down on Friday and the 4 of them went.  I asked him if it was different from 7 Peaks (the old ownership that was there before). He said it was all pretty much the same.

Shane carrying 2 at a time.
While he was gone Shane was out in Mom's backyard working on the terraced hill.  It gets so overgrown and hard to take are of.  Shane took out one of the retaining walls that Dad had put in (it was wood and had rotted) and was replacing it with the decorative cinder blocks Dad had used on the other part of the terrace.

Mom and Shane went to Home Depot to purchase more blocks and came home with 25.  He needed 150 more, but had only purchased that many because they are heavy and the car can only take so much weight.

So with various cars, Joy's, Erin's, Mom's, Jessica's and mine, we headed over to Home Depot to get more.  They brought out 2 pallets and each of us loaded about 25 blocks in our car.  They were 22 lbs. each.  We brought them home and took turns backing into mom's garage to unload.
Jacob doing his part

Mark, Matthew's brother, helped us
unload too.

That night Brook went our and bought a dog.  Max's sister had been living with them with her dog and Brook got very attached.  But his sister moved out while they were at Trek.  So she bought her own dog.  A cute, soon to be, large German Shepard.  She brought it over to Mom's to show us.
Shane still working away

Jacob loved playing with Togo

Sunday was Father's Day.  We started with breakfast.  I made sausage, hash browns and eggs.  Only problem is I pulled out hamburger (it was in a log roll like sausage) instead!  😏

After breakfast we opened gifts

Before I made breakfast I made a pie to take to church.  The ward does pies for Father's Day.  So I made lemon meringue.  Turned out well and had enough for everyone.
He got 3 shirts.  He didn't like this one.

He liked this one, but we're
going to check out how the
next size up fits.

He liked this one, but the
material is a little thin.

After church Jason's family came over for
dinner.  We had tacos.  Jared and Stephanie
didn't come because she had been exposed to
Covid.  She was with her mom on Thursday and
her mom tested positive on Friday.

Jacob playing with Juliette

During the month of June, on Mondays, they have music in the park.  We went and one night Catheys joined us.
Trying to keep boredom from overtaking us, we went with Elias to Airbourne.
Swimming with Catheys.  Jaxon brought his girlfriend.  Jacob wasn't thrilled about that.  😏

Jason's birthday.  We got him a charger port for upstairs and slippers.

We decided to be spontaneous and went down to Las Vegas the last week of June.  We invited Jaxon and left the last Monday, June 27 (Jason's birthday.  Here is a photo of the drive down.

We got there and by the time we unloaded, fixed some dinner etc. the boys wanted to go to the pool.  It was a nice pool, but they closed at 8 p.m.  That was a bummer.

One Tuesday, we were down there for the pool's opening at 10 a.m.  It was so hot, but the pool was perfect!

Waiting for the pool to open

After swimming we showered and drove to the Strip to attend a magic show.  Took us forever to find parking.  Jason dropped us off and we found the show while he found parking.  He ran all the way and made it in.  It was a fun show...especially when he had us take some playing cards, they had given us when you entered, had you rip them in half, mix them up, put part under your leg, etc.,  until you just had 2 cards left.  You flipped them face up and they fit together!  They were the same card.

Las Vegas strip

Pool side again all day on Wednesday
After the show we went and got some dinner.  Then we told the boys we were going to walk to the Bellagio to see the fountains.  It was 103 degrees at 6 p.m. and they were not too eager.  Jaxon said he was OK if we didn't see them...he could Google it.  😂

Getting to hold Melin, 1 day old

We left on Thursday morning and drove to St. George.  Stephen and Hannah live there while he is attending medical school.  She went into labor on Wednesday morning and had Melin later that day.  On Thursday we were able to stop by and see the baby.  She was so cute and tiny.  You forget how small and light weight they are!

June 30 we had our summer Relief Society activity.  It was so fun!  We held it in Karlena Gonzales' backyard (which is beautiful) and had about 15 sisters.  Each of these pictures is a little funny, with eyes closed etc.  We had dinner and they it began to rain so we went up on her deck and played 2 truths and a lie.  It was a great way to get to know each other!
