Jacob's 10th Birthday

Jacob is 10!  Amazing!!  He got up and on the kitchen table was a candy bar board.
A few days before his birthday I was trying to think of something he would think was fun.  I thought back to my BYU days and creativity.  It was really fun to put together and I think he really liked it.

For his birthday breakfast he requested Lucky Charms.

 He got some summer sandals.
We took him to dinner for his birthday and he choose to go to Iggy's.

He got LEGO tape--this is a strip of tape with LEGO bumps on it.  You can put LEGOs on it and build while it is on the wall.
We had Jaxon Cathey and Jaxon Nef over for games and cake.
A new bike bag

The big gift of the day was a new skateboard.  He seems to like it.

Blowing out candles

Jacob had played for several days with the LEGO tape....putting it up and taking it down without any problem.  One time he left it over night and this is what happened when he tried to take it off the dinning room wall.  Sad day!
So happy he came to our home 10 years ago.  We wouldn't trade him for anything--not even $100,000!

March

We had parent teacher conf at the beginning of  the month. Jacob is doing well. His math is improving and if we can just get him through 5th grade Chinese....he can do it, just doesn't like it. On ward and up ward!

That weekend, March 3rd, was Stephanie and Devin's Open House at Mom's.  I went down on Friday to visit and had a fun time seeing them.

On Saturday we went down and helped with the food.  Quite a few people came.

I love this picture.  I love Jen's dress!

Then came my birthday on the 7th.  I went to lunch with Julie Spilker and Julie Wiggins.  Neither knew it was my birthday.  :)  That night Jason brought home flowers and cupcakes from Sweet Tooth Fairy.  I had gone earlier that day to Nothing Bundt Cakes to get my free birhthday Bundlet and that is what Jason had gone in to try and buy....just at the wrong store.  :)  No pictures of any of it!

Don't have a picture, but the following Saturday, Jason and Jacob went skiing.

On the 13th Lisa, Birthe, Inez and I had lunch together to celebrate our birthdays.  Birthe is 58 and we're 54.   So amazing to see our lives 34 years after we met and how things have changed.

On Monday (12th), of the same week, Jason woke up and his ankle was sore and painful.  Tuesday more of the same.  By Wednesday he was limping when he got home and in a lot of pain if it was touched or moved.  I went and bought an ankle brace, but it didn't help much.
Thursday morning we took him to Instacare.  They felt it should be looked at in the ER.  We had Jacob because he was home sick with a couch and fever.  So I dropped him off at Randy's and we headed to St. Mark's hospital.  In this first room the PA looked at it and felt it was gout.  She ordered some blood work and went to consult with the Dr.  After many hours the results came back--not gout and probably infection since he had MR SA years ago.

In the ER getting ready to give more blood.  I took this picture at the risk of my own life.
Around 5 p.m. they got him up to a room where we set up his work stuff.  He has a trip to Singapore in April and the group going has calls a couple times a week with Singapore going over information.  Jason was supposed to lead the call that night.  He set up and was ready to go.  Again, he didn't know I took this picture.

So at this writing, (3/17/18) he is still in the hospital with and IV of antibiotics.  It is helping his foot feel better so hoping they are on the right track.  They took cultures on Thursday afternoon that have to grow to show if there is infection.  It can take several days.  We are playing the waiting game.

In the mean time, I am here at home with Jacob.  He is still sick with fever and cough so I shouldn't take him to anyone's house and infect them.  It could be the flu, which means it is hard to get up to see Jason.  I have had a similar case, but started last weekend and haven't been as sick.  Though I still cough a little and have a stuffy nose.  I am really tired of it.

3/19/18
Jason was released yesterday, Sunday and came home.  They still don't really know what was it was or what caused it, but he is better.  Jacob is still home sick today.  I took him to the Dr. on Saturday and he has bronchititis.  Could go on for several days. His fever is lower today and he seems more chipper.  I am really hoping this is the lasts day!

February

We began our month celebrating Randy and MarySue's 30th anniversary.  We went to Josh and Irina's for dinner.  We just visited and gave them a family picture as the gift.  We plan to take it in May.

At Christmas time I saw a Christmas tree skirt pattern in a quilt shop.  I loved it, found a coupon for the store and bought the pattern.

This is the top finished and ready to be quilted.  I had a hard time keeping the 60 degree angle, that is why one of the triangles has very little white on each side.  I put the back together and took it to the quilter's.  Should have it back by beginning of May.
Christian's birthday was February 8th and Elizabeth had his party on Saturday the 9th.  It was a Moana theme and was so cute!!
They had catered food and cupcakes.

Our family and Nathan's family came.  It was really fun!

Jacob has taken to laying on the heater with a blanket and reading.

For Valentine's Day I thought I'd make cookies and we could take them around to people.  They didn't look bad, but they did not taste good.  Bummer!

Jason and Jacob decided to have  a Nerf gun war in the basement.  Jacob took the closet under the stairs and Jason used toilet paper.
