As I mentioned at the end of January's post....end of January began Jason's traveling for work. He left for California on Tuesday, January 29th and got home on Friday, February 1st.
But....on Thursday Jacob came home from school, dropped his backpack and coat on the floor and said he had to lay down. He had a fever and did not feel good. Friday afternoon, before Jason got home, I took him to the Dr. hoping that maybe he had strep. They cultured for both strep and influenza A. He had the flu. Ugh!
Jason got home and we decided it would be better for him to go stay at his dad's over the weekend to try and keep him from getting the flu. Ugh again! That meant I hadn't had him around since Tuesday and since he was flying out to Houston on Monday...through Wednesday that would be over a week without him. Not that I couldn't do it, I just like to have him around. I like to see him. That's why I married him!
He was in and out over the weekend. He went climbing with Tom Cathey on Saturday and that night he did some grocery shopping for me. When he came home he brought these roses and See's candy since he would be gone--our anniversary. The flowers were beautiful and lasted a long time!
That Saturday MarySue and Hannah held a Galentine's Day party for us. MarySue had decorated it beautifully. MarySue, Jenny, Hannah, Hannah's sister Heather, Stephanie, Abby, Emma, Mylee, Lilly, Karen and I were there.

Ahhhhh....the day I had been dreading. My 25 year old Amana washing machine got a leak. I came downstairs and found water on the floor. I knew the day would come, but was hoping it was still a ways off.
So while Jason was gone on his second trip to Houston I went washing machine shopping.
There are a lot of machines out there. I wanted a top loader with an agitator where I could control the water...not the Eco friendly stuff. Sorry to any future readers who may be cringing at my non-Eco friendly attitude, but I want the clothes to be washed with water and not air!
I read reviews, asked people, looked at front loaders too. Went to several stores and decided on a Speed Queen.
Very happy with my purchase.
Jason got home on Friday at 2 p.m., we moved the freezer, that is in the laundry room too, so the delivery guys could take out the old washer and put in the new one.
The day before washing machine delivery was Valentine's Day. Here are pictures from Jacob's class party.

Sunday we had my family get together for dessert night. The cousins wanted to see each other and visit. Good to see everyone, but not a lot of visiting with everyone.
Towards the end Heidi mentioned that David had cleaned out his closet and they had 4 bags of clothes they were getting rid of. Here are the guys "shopping" David's closet. Everyone got something.

Monday, the 18th was President's Day Holiday.
We went over to the church with Nefs and Cathey to play.
When we got home Jason had an email from the Bishop. Apparently a guy from facilities management was at the church and snapped this picture, sent it to the stake presidency member over buildings and expressed concern about the bikes, scooters, etc. on the wood floor. Dan Duffn then sent out to the Bishops asking them to remind members not to do this. I'm happy the picture he sent was blurry. So no more of this activity.
Jason flew out, Wednesday, the 20th, for his last trip of the month.....to California. He got back that Friday. Yay!!

The first was to build a boat out of a piece of paper and about 3 ft. of duct tape. The boat needed to float and they added washers to the boat to see how many they could add before it sunk.
The next station was building a tower out of straws and paper clips. They had a base piece of paper that they could tape the base straws to, but from there they had to build up with just straws and paper clips. They then took it over to a large fan and the structure had to stay up against the force of the wind.
The next one they were given clay and they either wanted it to go really fast or really slow. They had to decide which they wanted to try for and they chose fast. There were 2 tanks of water. The fashioned clay had a paper clip at the top which was fastened to a string which lead to a weight that pulled it when placed in the water. When the fish was let go they timed how fast it got to the end. Their time was recorded and they could go back and try to refashion the fish to see if they could make it more aerodynamic.
It was a great field trip and they had fun!
Jacob had a court of honor with Troop 20. He recieved his First Aid patch.
