July

July began with 4th of July celebrations.  We went to Mom's for a BBQ.  With Amy, Chris and Tanner; Emily and Erin; us and mom.  Heidi and some of her girls came over for dessert later.

A few days later the Nefs came into town for a visit.  On Wednesday night we met Nefs, & Catheys at Cranberry Hill park for the picnic dinner.  We visited and the the boys, Jacob, Alex and Jaxon N, went across the street to the church pavilion to check in for boys camp with their packs.  They were leaving the next morning and were supposed to get their packs checked, divide up into sleeping tents and divide some of the gear.

When they were done we wanted to get a picture of the kids.  From Top to bottom:  Jaxon Nef, Dominick Nef, Ashlyn Cathey, Micah Nef, Alex Nef, Addie Cathey, Ellie Sue Nef, Jacob, Jaxon Cathey, Mo Cathey, Sam Nef.

Thursday, July 7, bright and early the group
met at the church and loaded up to go camping.
They went up into the Uintahs, to Granddaddy
Lake.
They parked, hiked to Granddaddy Lake and the Bishop pushed them to keep going to another lake where they would camp, and then start working their way back down to the cars over the next 2 days.

Catheys came over for a movie

In 1997 the Church did a reenactment of the pioneers crossing the plains and into the valley.  Took 3 months.  When they were coming through Emigration Canyon and into the valley, I went up the This Is the Place with Haile Hanseen Steinmann to see them come in.  I remember being there and all the people.  This year marks 175 years since the saints came into the valley.  No reenactments, but they talked about it.

On  Saturday, July 16, we headed out to Eagle Mountain for a practice bike race.  We arrived about 8:30 a.m. I was helping at the food tent from 8:45-9:30.
Jacobs wave was at 10:30 and it was hot!  He took off and his first lap (11 miles) was 48 mins.  Second lap was 51 mins.  He was so hot and tired when he came in.

The next day, Sunday, we had Treats in the Street in the evening.  It is a neighborhood/ward thing where people can walk over and meet each other.  Jacob was talking to the boys and they decided to play night games.   They went over the the Ridges to play.
On hot afternoons we'll call Catheys to see if they
want to go the the library.

After the library we went the Airbourne.  We had to grab socks for Jaxon and invited Ashlyn to come. Nice way to spend and afternoon.
This summer has been different....Jacob is older and we don't do the same things we did when he was younger.  It has been harder to find things to do.

Sometimes you just have to do it--especially
when its on sale!!

Lagoon Day....cool peacock!

Chevron's annual Lagoon Day was on the 23rd.  We took Elias with us....did Raging Rapids with them and got nice and wet.  It was a hot day, so this felt good.  They then took off, went to Lagoona Beach and other rides.  We met up with them at 5 p.m. for the dinner and then did some rides together.
Jason and I riding the swings.  We pointed the camera
at ourselves and hoped for the best.  With the glare
neither of us could see what we were taking.

Middle arrow is ours.
Bottom arrow is Jared's.
On Monday, July 25th we headed down to Palisade State park to go camping with Jason's family.
This year we decided to get cabins.  MarySue, Randy, Jenny and Jacob stayed together, Jared's family had one cabin and we had another.
Randy's cabin was up a gravel slope so we decided to eat up by their cabin so they didn't have to come down all the time.
We put up a shade tent the first night and Randy/MarySue did dinner.
Tuesday morning Irina's family did breakfast.  Tuesday night Stephanie's family did dinner and we celebrated Robbie and Lilly's birthdays.
Wednesday morning we fixed breakfast.

Lasts November Josh got a job offer to go run a sister company over in London.  They took the job and have spend the past 8 months negotiating the contract and the summer working on work visas.  It finally all came together and he headed to London to work beginning of June (he and Irina had gone over in May to house hunt).  He came back during the visa process and left again just before we went on our camping trip.

On Tuesday we spent the day out at the reservoir.  It was so fun!  There was a dock chained down, about 20 yards off shore.  Jacob found some boys and spent a ton of time playing king of the mountain.  Pushing each other off into the water.

Birthday cake and rock hard ice cream.  Karen
drove up on Tuesday and brought the ice cream
in dry ice.  It was very hard!

Saturday, July 30 was Jaxon's bday.  We took over a gift....a personal watermelon and some Mike & Ikes.  Jacob had lunch with them.
