June, Wongs, Father's Day, Fun!

June has been a busy month.  While school wasn't out until June 3rd, we started summer In mid May with a hike to Rocky Mouth with 2 of Jacob's friends, Spencer and James.

Snack Time!

In the car with cousin Mylee.  Ready to go!
Walking to the lave tube

At the end of May, over Memorial Day weekend, we went to visit cousins in Idaho Falls.  On Saturday we drove over to Craters of the Moon National Park.  We walked to one of the lava tube caves and went through it.  When it was active, the lava flowed and an outside crust hardened, forming a tube.  The hot lava still flowed underneath the crust and eventually emptied, leaving a hollow tube that we can walk through today.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to the Healing field where they had hundreds of flags to honor war veterans.  It was amazing!

We then went to see the Idaho Temple and the falls in front of it.  There was a beautiful park area around it that we walked through.

On Monday we got out the swimming pool and played in the water!

The kids played in the water while we watched.  :)

Drying out!

June 3rd was Jacob's last day of Kindergarten! Amazing that next year he will be a 1st grader!!!

Worn out!
After school we met up with our friends at Tracy Aviary.  I knew Debbie from the singles ward days and she has a son Jacob's age.  Jacob and Tyler soon discovered that they both like Wild Kratts and pretended to be Chris and Martin Kratt.

After the aviary (which is in Liberty Park) we went over to the splash pad and got wet!

Kindergarten got out a day earlier than grades 1-5.   So the following day, when everyone was out, we had a neighborhood water party in the afternoon.  Everyone had a great time!!

That weekend Kristina and family came into town.  I went shopping with Kristina, her girls and Heidi.

Say cheese!
Playing with cousins.  Connor

The next week (no one can say that Jacob has a boring life!) we met up with Debbie and kids for 2 more activities!

On Thursday, we went to Seven Peaks.  It was a perfect day for it.  It was a little bit windy and that kept the crowds away.  Funny thing is that it wasn't windy in the park!  I forgot to bring my camera!

The next day, Friday, was free day at This Is The Place Park.  It has been several years since we have visited there (mainly because it was getting pricey!)  But Jon Huntsman sponsors this day once a year and we had a great time!
Riding the train

Waiting
The girls really wanted to ride the horses.  Jacob really didn't care, but wanted to be with the kids.  So we stood in line for an hour.  When Jacob got on he had fun!  It has been at least 3 years since he has gotten on a horse.
After the horse ride we went over to the splash pad they have recently put in.  It was a windy day, so while the water felt good at first, the wind made a wet shirt pretty cold.

After we got a free ice cream (also courtesy of Jon Huntsman) and then had lunch.  At that point Debbie and the kids had to go home because she teaches piano lessons.  I thought Jacob would want to go too, but he wanted to head back in and do more. So we went an panned gold, saw indian tee-pees and took the train again.
For Father's day we had Jason's family over to celebrate and we celebrated Jason, Daniel and MarySue's birthdays.  When things are at my house I forget to take pictures.

This past weekend Jared and Stephanie came down on Thursday night so Abby could have knee surgery on Friday morning to help straighten her legs.  On Saturday it was Jason's mom's side of the family...family reunion and it was our family's turn to be in charge.  We had it at our church pavillion.  We did hamburgers/hot dogs for lunch and pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.  Turned out well, but was a ton of work!  Jared and Steph went home Sunday after church.

That leads me to this weekend--the end of the month.  Tomorrow, Friday, we head up to Idaho Falls again to help Jared and Stephanie move.  When theye moved last December from here, they rented until they found an area and and house they wanted to buy.  They found one....this has been the month of the Wongs!

Next month it will be the month of the Safstens!  We head out next week for North Carolina and the Outer Banks!  Family reunion at a beach house!
