The Rest Of April

The day after we arrived home from our spring break Jason flew out to Singapore for 2 weeks for work.

On Saturday we went to the Jordan River Temple open house with Nefs and Catheys.  I had gone in March with Julie Wiggins, Julie Spilker and Teresa Hatch and it was much less crowded--which makes a difference.
I wondered what Catheys thought about it.
That night everyone went over to Nef's for pizza.  I sent Jacob with Catheys since I was feeling worse.
By that night I was coughing etc. and was sick in bed until Tuesday.   It took a good week to finally feel back to myself.

The next weekend, on Saturday the 14th, the neighborhood kids decided to have a post Friday the 13th night game activity.  They started out with treats at 8 p.m.  They were planning on staying out until 9:30, but Jacob came home at 8:30.  Didn't care for the scarey stories.

By Sunday, the 16th I finally felt better and went down to Mom's to celebrate her birthday.  Joy cooked dinner and did street tacos.  It was good.

I got a chance to go out to lunch with my friend Beth.  It was so good to see her.  She is so busy.  Works as a missionary at the church offices Monday/Tuesday and part of Wednesday, does the baptistery before her missionary work on Wednesdays, and teaches pre-school out of her basement, for free, to 5 kids in her neighborhood.

Jacob loves sports cars so, after school, we went downtown to the Ferrari of Salt Lake to look around.  They are beautiful cars!  These cost around $330,000!

Friay, the 20th, was Randy's birthday.  I didn't feel like doing a whole family dinner without Jason around to help, so I invited everyone over for pie.  It was fun!

Jason got home the next day on the 21st.  It was so good to have him home!!!

Amy flew in on the 28th and I picked her up from the airport.  She slept over and went to church with us the next day.  Then we went down to Mom's for dinner.  Aunt Mary was there and it was really good to see her.

Here are the girls doing dinner dishes.

On to May!

The end of March and Beginning of April

Ahhhh...spring break!  We took off on Friday, the 30th.  Jacob got out of school...he was soooo sad!

We took off with Ahyous and went south.

Our first gas stop at the south most exit in Beaver.

We arrived in Page and stopped to see Glen Canyon Dam.  The size is truly amazing!

Elias began to feel sick that afternoon with a fever and beginning of a cold.   We went to our hotel (after lunch at McDonald's) and he slept.

They had planned to go to Antelope Canyon that afternoon and had made reservations.  We, well I, had wanted to go, but with Jason's hospitalization we hadn't gotten around to making the reservations until it was too late and they had no space.

Since Elias was sick, Ben stayed back at the hotel with him and I went with Andrea and Tenya.  Jason had already seen it so he stayed with Jacob at the hotel to swim.

That canyon was beautiful!!  We met at the tour shop, got our guide (Rosie), packed into a truck and she drove us out there.  As we walked through it Rosie pointed out the different things you could see.  She is a whiz with the iPhone camera and helped us take great shots.
The Heart
The Candle Stick

Horse Shoe Canyon
It was a beautiful canyon.  It cost $45, but was worth it to me.  That night Mexican dinner.  It was good, but Jacob went back to hotel with Jason not feeling well. I stopped with Ahyous for Subway for them.  He felt fine the next day.  Saturday we headed for Horse Shoe Canyon.  Again, it was beautiful!  The thing about both these canyons is they are sooo easy to access.
We then drove 2 1/2 hours to the Grand Canyon.  Jason has previously told me it is great, but it is a stop for him not a destination.  It is a giant hole.
Over looking Grand Canyon
Those things are true, but it is a beautiful giant hole.  I loved seeing it! So glad we went!

Grand Canyon Panorama

We left the Grand Canyon about 3:30 and drove 4 1/2 hours to Scottsdale and the home we had there.  Arrived about 9:30.  House had 4 bedrooms and worked really well for us.

The next day was Easter Sunday and General Conference.

Kristina invited us over on Sunday afternoon to watch conference and then have dinner.  We had such a good time.

Conference was really good.  They talked about the change being made in discontinuing Home and Visiting Teaching.  Changing it to Ministering.  Which sounds strange for us to say, but gets the idea across better.

They also are moving High Priests back into Elders Quorum  They will stay High Priests, but no more HP group.  Should be interesting to see how it moves forward.  You can tell the church is working to get members to be more Christ-like in what they do in general rather than ticking boxes.

It was a week filling with video games due to the drive and that we didn't have things to "see" every day.

Picnic in Scottsdale trying to wait for it to warm up a bit before swimming in the unheated pool.
The pool was FREEZING, but the kids went in anyway.  Jason came out a little later and went in too.  The boys kept trying to push him in.

Tuesday we left and drove 2 hours up to Sedona.  What a beautiful area!   We arrived early at Sedona Pines Resort, but they let us swim while we waited for our rooms to be ready.

Here is our room.  They had a living area room, kitchen and bedroom on one side and across the deck was this second room.  We had planned an air mattress for Jacob to sleep on, but I hadn't checked to make sure it was the twin and instead brought the double air mattress!  Between that and bringing in the 2 bike it was crowded.  To get to the bathroom, I slid out of bed, would squeeze down to the closet, put my right  hand on one side of the closet and reach across with my left hand and grab the door handle.  Then I would swing my leg toward the door, while holding on and bring my other leg over.  It was quite a hurdle.  Felt like an episode of The Middle.

After we arrived I took Andrea to the store and the boys went biking.  They came back, we ate and I went to bed.  I was so tired.  Or so I thought.  Turned out it was the beginning of being sick.

Wednesday I got up and while Jason and Ben went biking for the morning, Andrea and I took the kids to the pool.

When Jason got back at noon I had a sandwich and then spent the rest of the day in bed.

The next day we drove 9 hours home.  I was OK, but had taken Advil.

It was a fun trip.

Got home and Karen and Randy had dinner for us.  We unpacked, ate, cut Jason's hair and then I was in bed again.

The next morning, Friday, Jason left for Singapore for work for 2 weeks.  Karen took Jacob to breakfast and on Saturday she took him most of the day.

I was in bed until Wednesday with fever, hacking chest cough, congestion, etc.  On Wednesday I could at lease do some laundry and shower.

That brings me to today--Thursday.  Feeling a bit better.  Jason still in Singapore for another week.  Randy has kept us supplied wth food--which is so helpful.  I couldn't have made it to the store.

To end this....this is a picture of Andy and Alex's family's new car.  A Tesla with wing doors!  Jacob is in love with it!
