  August 1 was my Uncle Larry's funeral.  It was good to go and see many of my cousins.

The next day Jacob left for Youth Conference.  He wasn't sure he really wanted to go, but they seemed to have a really good time.  Brook and Ali Holmes and Todd and Brenda Combe assisted with all the food and activities for it.

After baptisms they drove up to a camp ground in East Canyon.  It had a pool/hot tub included.

They went tubing and got thrown from the tubes!

They also had kayaks, paddle boards, rafts to play 

on if you were not riding in the boat.

August 17 - President Nelson's 100th birthday is coming up in September.  He posted in June and asked people to minister to the ONE.  As in leaving the 99 and finding the 1. 

I've thought about this, but haven't really known what to do.  I minister to 5 sisters.  1 lives across the street from me and is not active, but we see each other and chat.  I've known her for several years and feel like we have an easy going relationship.  1 is active in my ward and we talk all the time.  1 is inactive and was the secretary in my ward Primary presidency over 10 years ago.  We keep in touch.  1 lives down the street and is hard to connect with, but I try.  The last 1 I've visit taught (when that was the name) and now minister to her.  She is not active and sometimes will connect with me and other times no.  I just try and let it flow.  

This morning I was out walking and I thought about her.  I hadn't reached out to her since her birthday in June.  I stopped and texted her just checking in, asking about her summer and filling her in on mine.  She replied that she was just about to reach out to me today--that great minds think alike.  She asked if Jason could give her a priesthood blessing.  After our texts I felt like this was the ONE Pres. Nelson was talking about for me.  

I've been a member all my life, but sometimes doing what is asked is hard because I don't know how to do it.  In this case I feel like it feel into my lap.  I wasn't trying to "listen" to the spirit on purpose (like...tell me what to do), but when she came to mind I texted.  Glad I did.  Sometimes when you feel like you're doing what you should you don't always know if it is "enough."  Today I got an answer that if you try and follow through it can be enough. 

One of the car dealerships had a car show and we went...met up with some of the Catheys.  Ashlyn and I in an old car.  It was cool!

On the 10th we had a bridal shower for Jessica.  It was so fun and I am so excited to her to marry Keith in September.  

Hale Center Theater is located near us and always does a great job on their plays.  In July I received a buy 1 get 1 for their play The Nutty Professor so I got tickets for Jason and me.  

A day later Wendy Cathey texted and asked if I'd gotten that offer....she had gotten one too.  So they bought tickets near us and we went together.  

We went to dinner at Tuk Tuk's first...a new Thai restaurant near us and really like the food.  The play was fun and we had a good time.  

  

Monday, August 19 was Jacob's first day of 11th grade.  Amazing that he is this old!!  

We did our traditional go out to breakfast before he had to leave.

Activity Day.  We kicked off the fall with a pool party at the Ferguson's.  The kids loved it!

This month is Julia's 1st birthday and next month is Hannah's 6th birthday.  Elizabeth invited people over to celebrate both on a Sunday afternoon.

I decided that we should get out and go to a Johnson Files comedy show.  It was on a Tuesday night--which makes it hard with school, but it was fun.  We got Subway sandwiches for dinner and had great seats.  I'm glad we did it.
