On Friday morning, Aug 1, we went over to the funeral home to dress mom. They had her in her garments, temple dress etc. and had done her make up. They did a great job! We worked with Shane (from the funeral home) and he gently moved her body so we could put on her robe, apron, and sash. Erin came with Kristina and did Mom's hair. She did it just like Mom would have liked.
It was so different to see her laying there--we almost expected her to pop up and say, just kidding. :)
While we were there Chris texted and asked if we wanted Amy to make some cookies for the family dinner that night. They were yummy!!
That night the WHOLE family met at mom's for dinner. It was so fun to see everyone. There were only 4 grandkids who couldn't be there. Elizabeth (she was in D.C. for a friend's wedding), Linnea (who just had a baby), Brook (her headaches are a lot), and Conner (who is on his mission). We missed them all, but still had fun visiting.
Saturday, August 2 we met at the church at 9 a.m. The viewing began at 9:30. So many people came and they were so kind in what they said.
Lance and Meghan (formerly Russ) Bastian came. Fun to visit! |
The funeral was so nice. This lists who was on the
program. I gave the opening prayer, but afterward a couple of people came up to me to tell me what a great job I had done on my talk!
After the funeral we had the luncheon and were able to visit some more with those who had come.

The clean up! |
Afterward some went to mom's, others who live there went to their homes. Heidi invited us over later in the afternoon to swim. What a fun thing to do! Everyone could relax, have a fun time and visit.
Monday we took Jacob and our neighbor, Luke, down to BYU for FSY. The first day was ok, but Jacob called Karen by Wednesday to pick him up. He had a cold and wasn't feeling well. He stayed with her Wednesday night and Randy and MarySue brought him to our house Thursday p.m. We got home Thursday night.
On Monday and Tuesday people flew out to San Francisco for the burial. We all stayed at the same hotel and some of us went out to dinner together on Tuesday night.
Wednesday morning we all met downstairs and the drove over to the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. It was hard to say good bye, but by this time it was easier to accept it.
Jen Call Williamson, Iku Ikeda, Carol Butler and Tom Fletcher |
Adam Williams...the 7th child. :) |
That afternoon we all split off. Jason and I were with Chris and Amy so we drove over to Half Moon Bay and then to see the old house. Kristina, later on, went by also and was able to go inside. They have changed it so much (she took pictures) I don't really want to see it anymore. Just not the same.
Lunch at Round Table Pizza. |
After Half Moon Bay we drove back to San Bruno and went to a restaurant Jason has eaten at when in town for business with Chevron. Afterward dinner, on both nights we were there, we went for gelato ice cream. So good!!
Thursday morning, we got up and went into San Francisco before we flew out that afternoon. We went to Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Warf. We had clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl. Yummy!
It would have been fun to have more time to see things in SF.
It has been a fast and hard 3 weeks. The texts (almost 2000) have been flying between the siblings trying to get everything coordinated, but it is done.
After we got back from San Francisco we got together at mom's to begin dividing things up. It has gone really well--I think. Each of us have some things we wanted. In reality none of us have a ton of space to collect more stuff.
On our second day together we started to go through more of the papers, etc. We have more to do, but Chris and Kristina went home on the 13th. We'll get together again in September.
