Been a While

For the few who read my blog...sorry it has taken me a while to get back to this!!

March started out with snow and Jacob had a great time sledding with his cousins.

Then we had birthdays. First mine...here are Dad and Jacob bringing me my presents.. Then I let Jacob be the photographer while I opened.
Later in the month we celebrated Jacob's birthday.
Earlier in the day he had a friends party at Jungle Jim's. The boy next door, Bridger, has his birthday the day after Jacob, so we did a double birthday party together.

I think the boys had fun.

That night we celebrated at home and with my family.

Big day for one little boy! Can't believe he is 4!!!

This month we have gone to the library; had playgroups at the dinosaur museum, Discovery Gateway, at home; and went to the zoo!

It was warm enough, later in the month, to roast marshmallows and have smores!

One morning dad and Jacob cooked breakfast outside.
Jacob loved it.

It is a good thing I took pictures or I would never remember what we did! My mind is going..that is what happens at 48!

How Did I Get Into this Demographic???

I received a survey about the presidential election and started to fill it out. I marked the age demographic and stared at it....when did I hit this? Seems so weird to SEE that this is where I fit! This is the "getting older" group. :) But then I looked below the age question to "From what media source do you regularly receive your political information?" and look at what I checked...news from mainstream media feeds. I guess I am in that demographic! Strange since I only feel like I'm in my 30's. :)

6th Anniversary

This past Saturday was our 6th anniversary. It fell on a Saturday, the same day as six years ago when we were married.

Jason arranged for his Dad and Mary Sue to take Jacob overnight and booked the same room we had on the first night of our honeymoon. It was so fun!

We stayed at the Castle Creek Inn, in the Rapunzel room.
Jason had them put 3 red roses in the room for me...they were beautiful! You can see them on the mantel here, and on our table at home.

After arriving at our room we went to dinner at Asian Star. Then we came back to the room, got on our P.J.'s and watched a video. It was so fun to just relax, not needing to worry about getting back for the babysitter....just time to ourselves.

Sunday morning we picked Jacob up by 9 a.m. since Jason's parents had 9 a.m. church. Oh, it was so nice getting away--even if it was just for a few hours!! Jason was so wonderful to plan it all. I absolutely LOVED it!!

Friends and Birthday Parties

Because Jacob is an only child I try to have friends over quite a bit. Some days it makes it easier for me (someone else is there to play with him rather than me) and some days it is a little more work than I planned for (3 year olds do not always agree on everything). Jacob has a variety of friends to play with. There are 11 boys in his Sunbeam class and they are all great kids.

Last week a friend came over and they were doing fine, but then one decided he wanted to play downstairs and the other wanted to play upstairs. They ended up upstairs in Jacob's room. Neither of them were very chatty about how to solve the problem. So I brought out the camera (originally because they both looked so funny like this) and it changed their attitude in minutes.
It was so funny!

Last Saturday Jacob was invited to 2 birthday parties. One in the morning at Jungle Jim's and the other in the afternoon at The Little Gym. I didn't get pictures of the afternoon, but he had a great time at both! After seeing them drive, I'm really glad they don't drive yet!!!

New Year

Happy New Year!!
For New Year's Eve we went over to Matt and Terri's house--a couple we knew from the singles ward. They got married about 8 months before we did and it was at their reception that Jason and I first held hands publicly. :) Jason is going to love that I added this little tidbit of information!

They had us and another couple over. Between us there were 6 little boys (under 5) and 1 little girl to play with. Jacob loved it. About 10 p.m. we pretended it was the New Year, went outside and did a few fireworks and then came back inside and drank sparkling cider. We had a really fun time!

During the break we also got a chance to see Tamsin and her daughter Emma. They moved about a year ago and came to visit her family for Christmas. It was so fun to see them. Here are a few pictures Jacob took.

Since then we've mainly been playing with friends.
What will 2012 bring us????

Christmas 2011

Christmas Eve was spent with Heidi's family for dinner. Growing up in California we had no family nearby to spend Christmas with, so we invited people to our house for Christmas Eve each year. Some were elderly couples from the ward, the missionaries, some of our friends and their families. We usually had 20-30 people over and it was a lot of work to prepare for, but the next day we had lots of left overs and would relax and play with our Christmas gifts.

We had a fun time at Heidi's and there was a ton of great food. I so appreciate that she invited us over because I want Jacob to spend time with his cousins and spend Christmas Eve like I did as a child. I have great memories of it--which is hard to recreate for him with just 3 of us at home. :)
We had a short visit because Jason's brother, who is on a mission in the Philippines, was calling the family that night. Turned out he had to call earlier than expected and so we headed to Jason's parent's house a little earlier. It was so fun to spend time with Heidi's family.
The next day was Christmas and Sunday. Our ward meets at 9 a.m. and Jacob knew it was Christmas, but this was the first year he really "got it" that Santa came and left gifts. Because he had not past experiences (that he could remember) that you wake up to presents, we were able to get him up, dressed, fed and off to church. Then we came home and opened gifts. It was so fun this year!

We then went in the afternoon to Jason's parent's house where his whole family gathers on Christmas day.Playing outside with his cousin Daniel--we didn't bring his coat so we were trying to cover him with a t-shirt he had gotten from him Hawaiian cousins, dad's shirt and the hat Aunt Jenny gave him.

Jacob's Aunt Jenny gave all of the kids these cute animal hats. They were so funny!
It was a good Christmas!

Christmas Festivities

We decorated our tree just after Thanksgiving. Jacob saw a picture of himself as a baby by the tree

and wanted to reenact that scene. He found a red shirt and sat by the tree again--just a little bit bigger 3 years later!.

Jason's work has a children's Christmas party every year at the Clark Planetarium. Jacob sitting on Santa's lap.

We also made gingerbread houses with the cousins. I was so busy helping with the houses that I forgot to pull out my camera until after they had gone home.
