First Week Out Was So Fun, But So Busy!

The first week out of school was packed!!  I didn't mean for it to happen that way, but it did.   We started off Monday morning with the first class of 2 weeks of swimming lessons.  They are going well this year!

The rest of Monday was spent playing with friends and he loved it!!

Tuesday we swam and then went to Cowabunga Bay.  The weather was perfect for it--HOT!

Wednesday, after walking with my friend Marcia, Jacob, Marcia's son, Adam, and I went to the summer movies.  We came home, had lunch ad then I took him to a school friend's birthday party.

Thursday was play group, after swimming.  We met at the Children's Museum of Natural Curiosity and had such a fun time.  That place is amazing and has so many fun things to do!!

We could have spent all day there!

While at the museum a friend told me that the next day, Friday, was free day at This Is the Place State park.  We have gone with Debbie and her 3 kids before so I texted her and we planned on meeting at 1 p.m.  It was hot, but doable.

Last night was the last baseball game of the season!  Way to go Jacob!

So far this weeks seems to be going a bit slower.  :)

May and the end of School

We started the month off with decorating the teacher's doors for Teacher Appreciation week.  It turned out really cute, with rockets showing the teacher's faces and the kids were little astronauts floating around.  I worked with great room mothers this year!  Here are the kids:  Jenny's boys - Andy and Alex and Terri's daughter - Chloe.

The first Monday in May was May the 4th be with you at the library.  They had some fun activities!

Jacob had an assignment to bring home the class bear, do activities with him and then send a short video to the teacher talking about the bear.  Turned out well.

Then came Mother's Day.  I got a bike this year.  I hope to ride it sometime.  Bikes are pretty uncomfortable to me, so we'll see.  :)

The whole first grade held a talent show and Jacob decided to read a story he had written.
You can see he loves pictures!

Jason's work held a community tour the end of May.  We took a bus ride through the refinery and then Jacob hopped on the fire truck.

After the tour we went downtown to a Read Today event.  They had all sorts of booths with goodies.  We stopped to eat a Creamie--it was hot!

Jason has a hammock that Jacob loves to get out.  He reads underneath the seat part when it is folded up a bit.

And of course you could not finish off the school year without a "School's Out" party.  We had food, slip-n-slides and the big inflatable.

Friday, the 5th, was the last day of school.  Wow!  A whole year of Chinese done!  Jacob had some great teachers this year.  Mrs. Hannah was the English teacher and Mrs. McFarland was the Chinese teacher.  They both worked well with him and Mrs. McFarland had a lot of patience!

Now we are on summer break!!

April

Easter weekend was also General Conference weekend this year.  As usual, General Conference was very good!

Saturday afternoon, between the afternoon and priesthood sessions, we went over to Hatch's for an Easter egg hunt and dinner.  We have done this before and had a good time.

Easter morning Jacob got up to look for his basket.

After the afternoon session, Mom, Dad, Jessica, Parker, Malia (the rest of the Brady's were in California for vacation--Parker and Malia had classes), Michael, his girlfriend Liberty, Elizabeth and Nathan came for dinner.  Had a good time.

With Easter came spring break.  I try to do something everyday so Jacob had someone to play with or something to do, so we aren't sitting just watching TV or playing the iPad.

On Monday, Avery came over, on Tuesday we went to Airbourn, the trampoline place, with James to jump.

On Wednesday, it was raining and we went with Natalie and her Jacob to The Leonardo for the day.

On Friday, Jason was home and we went to 7 Peaks in Lehi to play.

Jacob loves the "Frog."

Then he and Jason went out on the water driving boats and getting each other wet (it was a little too cool for me to want to get wet).

After the boats, Jason and Jacob climbed up and jumped!

After jumping and a couple of other rides we went in to do laser tag before we left to go home.

We arrived home and Chase asked if we wanted to go finishing with them.  So Jacob and I ate lunch and then drove with Brenda and kids to one of the splash pads that has a pond nearby to go fishing.  Jacob did a great job putting a live worm on his hook!  I couldn't do it!!

Busy and fun week!

With Jacob starting first grade I was able to add going to the temple once a week to my routine.  I called it (as Kristina does) Temple Tuesday.  Part of going every week enabled me to see the different plantings they do. In the fall I saw how MANY bulbs planted for the spring and it was so worth it!  The flowers were beautiful!

We also celebrated Mom's 76th birthday.  We had dinner at Heidi's and afterwards she opened several sets of towels.

At the end of April I was able to fly to Phoenix to see Kristina and family.  Brook was getting home from her mission to the Phillipines, Baugio mission.  She looked so good!

I arrived Friday morning and that afternoon we went shopping to try and find Brook some new clothes for her homecoming talk on Sunday.  I am not a shopper and after a few hours Jessica and I kept each other company in the van.  :)

On Saturday morning we got up and lounged poolside.  They have a beautiful pool, but it wasn't quite warm enough for me to want to swim.

Saturday afternoon we visited while Jessica and Brook went shopping again.

Sunday morning we got up and ready for church and to hear Brook speak.

After church we came home for an open house with dinner.  One fun part was to see Donna and Michael Holtum.  Our family has known Donna's family for 50 years.  We grew up together.

One of the cool things they did was a mural on their wall behind the pool.  It was so well done!!
