I was too young to stay up and watch Johnny Carson on the Tonight show. It aired at 11:30 p.m. in California after the 11 p.m. news (thank heavens for 10 p.m. news here!).
Then came Jay Leno and for the most part I liked him.

I thought his comedy was pretty good and I loved his Jay Walking. I didn't watch him a lot, usually on a Friday night, since I didn't have to get up for work the next day.
Now we have Conan Obrien.

I'm sure he is a nice enough guy, but I do not think he is funny. I actaully think his comedy is pretty stupid most of the time. I tried watching him a couple of times, but was unimpressed. So I have given up watching the Tonight Show, even if it was just on Friday night.
What do you think? Is this an age thing...does he appeal to the college age frat boy and I'm not in that demographic? Is that the demographic they are aiming for? Do you think he'll last?

I actually think he is pretty funny, but I think his main strength that he has over Leno is his warm interviewing style. Love the hair too!
Conan is more funny than Letterman, by a long shot. I am not sure why Letterman still has a show. He seems so bitter, and a bit of "wo is me" in attitude.
Conan definitely appeals to the younger crowd. I think he will last because he has had a successful show for many years prior to the Late Show gig.
I have never really liked Conan and find him abrasive and hard to watch. I loved Leno, but I saw his wife Mavis interviewed on Larry King and she is a scary, formidable woman and it made me sad for Jay to be married to her. Back to the subject, I hope Conan doesn't last and they find someone else. He just doesn't appeal to me. But I am looking forward to his primetime show.
BTW, when I said "his primtime show" I was referring to Jay Leno's. Anyway...
I love Leno. I don't think Conan is funny (or handsome) so I don't watch him. We prefer Colbert at our house.
Back in "the day" I actually did watch Conan a few times and thought he was funny - but that had to have been at least 15 years ago when his own show first came out. I'd also watch Letterman. I must have been young and nieve and easy to please, ha! I'm not one to watch talk shows so I can't say that I've ever watched Leno... Sad but true. It's been many many years since I've caught any of those late-night TV shows... I'm embarassed to mention what I do watch, ha!
Linde... please update!! :) AML!!
