Gone 8 Months and I Still Miss It

You know how you get in habits of where you buy food, gas etc? For me it was always Albertsons on the corner. I always bought gas there--when I was working I filled up 2x a week and it was simple to just pull in on the way home.

Well, Albertson's was not doing well and it closed on Feb. 23rd, 2009. When I am planning my errands, I still have that gas station come to my mind...going other places seem to be out of the way. Funny how you form patterns that are hard to break!

I was shocked when I saw that leave. They never seemed like they were struggling in that location like that. Was it Walmart that put them under?

You know, I think it was. When you look at all of the stores around it...Harmons 3 blocks east and Smiths 6 blocks south--the west side is what kept it going (because the east has so many for people to go to) and when Walmart came I guess that was it.

I totally get what you mean. I hate it when stores that I like go under. There was a little store called Curds n whey over by Rodworks that had really cute little girl things. I bought Sammie's chandelier for her room there, etc. I loved to just bounce in there if I ever had 10 minutes before I needed to pick up a carpool etc. I went one day a few months ago and it was gone.

I never shopped at that Albertsons so I didn't even notice it was gone until a couple months ago. But I did like having that little convenience store/gas station on the corner.

I feel the same way. I loved saying I have Harmons and Albertsons on either side of me. Bummer.
