May began with a bridal shower for Bryn, Taylor's fiancé. Joy hosted it at Heidi's and most of the family was there. Jen and Kelly got to be there too...they had come in for Amy's baby.
Joy put together a slide show of questions she had asked Taylor beforehand and Bryn tired to answer the questions as she thought Taylor would. It was fun!
Chris came in mid April for Amy's baby and Jen and Kelly flew in a week later.
We all got together after Bryn's shower to visit. Mackenzie was there with Rio too. She had come in for her sister's bridal shower.
It was so fun to see Mallory. This was the first time I had seen her in person (saw her on the Zoom baby shower for Amy) since she got home in March. She is here for the summer, working at the BYU bookstore again and taking a math class.

I was going to ask why she was taking math during the summer, but then she told me that it is now $300 per credit. So she had to take something she really needed.
She will head up to BYU-I in fall.

Amy was so kind and sharing with little Tanner. He is so cute and cuddly. It is so easy to forget how small they are to begin with!
Periodically I need to pick up a food order for someone. Normally people go into the Bishop's Storehouse themselves and pick up the food. With one particular sister I take her to shop.

The following day we went down to Heidi's for Mother's Day. David had decorated their family room with tables in a square. We had homemade Cafe Rio. Kristina was in town with Tanner to visit while Chris was here.
Grandpa Safsten, Tanner and Me. Weird to call Chris, Grandpa Safsten! |

With the pandemic we can't go in. They have the full time missionaries shop for you and load into your car.
I went to pick up an order and who should walk out, but Garrett! It was so fun to see him and talk for a few minutes. He looks and sounds great!
For Randy's birthday, Karen bought a "car entrance" into a dinosaur display called Jurassic Quest. They had some that moved and made sounds. Randy, MarySue, Karen, Jacob, Lilly, Grace, and Robbie went. Jacob thought it was OK Robbie loved it.

We try to get something for MarySue for Mother's Day and give it to her on Saturday since we are with our Moms on Mother's Day. This year we did a BBQ over here on Saturday. We celebrated Mother's Day and everyone whos had a birthday since March.
Towards the end of the afternoon they began to shoot these disks out of the disk guns we have in the basement. It had been a long day and Karen looked at me, kind of like, "Are you OK with this?" I didn't mind and said, "Yes, it's just been a long day."
I was in charge of making one of the desserts. I chose this Pinterest dessert. It was really easy to make (kind of expensive) and turned out!

Jacob wanted VR Chat. He knew we didn't, so he put together a very well done slide presentation. He thought of everything! He presented the points, he showed the parental controls, he came up with answers to why we would say no. It was very well done!
Jacob was rather tired on the way home.

We still say no, because none of his friends have it. Don't want him online with people he doesn't know.

Since we've been wearing masks for a year, I wanted a picture of Jacob with a mask. This is him headed out for school. Guitar in the back and heading to get in.

Last Monday of school |
Tuesday, the last week of school, Jacob came home and said that he had just seen people walking out of school. That he wanted to do it too. We talked about how the school is responsible for you and you shouldn't really just walk out. But....we told him he could do it on Wednesday if he wanted, but he had to text and let us know when he was leaving so we knew where it was. He wanted to be a bit rebellious by just walking out. This is the text he sent as he left on Wednesday. So funny! He got home and we asked how it was. He said walking out was fun, but once he was home it was nothing different. :) |

S'mores....Sticky!! |
Saturday Jason and Jacob went on a hike with the scouts. In the late afternoon we went over to Cathey's for dinner, a few games, and we watched a movie. Had a fun time.
Sunday afternoon family nap on the couch. We barely fit! Also, the first day of a cold for Jacob. Last week of school they didn't need to wear masks and I Jacob caught a cold. This nap is the beginnings of it.
Monday was Memorial Day. We were going to go swimming with Jared's family, but Jacob didn't feel good. The family did come over later in the day and we had a BBQ.
I can't believe May is over!
