All Part of Being a Mom

When your child gets sick you think, this is part of childhood...kids get sick, but since he was sick in February we have been careful not to take him anywhere. If I go shopping I put him in his stroller (with his own germs), we wipe down the wood part bench at church....then last Thursday I wondered if he had a fever. Nah! Friday he was a cling-on and when he got up from his afternoon nap, he just wanted to be held and would not eat. That is not Jacob. Took him to the Dr. that night and he has this virus, I have never heard of it before, it causes minor sore throats in adults and lesions in a baby's mouth. There is also a fever for 3-6 days and is no medication for it. That is why he didn't want to eat.

As a mom you try to review everywhere you've been, who has breathed on him, who looked at him, etc. You realize it is all part of life, but still you feel so badly for them when they don't feel well. He is getting back to normal, a little whinny still, but no fever and is starting to eat again.

Ah, the joys of motherhood! I am fine, but like all moms I want to take away all of the hurts of life. I don't think I'm Celestial material yet--I know the Plan, but don't like to see people suffer they way they do! :)

I'm glad he is feeling better. Soon he will be out of this stage of catching everything. Sometimes no matter what you do they get sick any way. Case and point: my house today. :)

I completely understand what you are saying!!! It is so hard to see them so uncomfortable and distressed. I am sorry your little guy has had such a rough time, but icky diseases of winter will be gone soon. Then we can move onto the summertime gastro-intestinal issues.

Germs are everywhere. You can't irradicate them, nor would you want them to be.

No one thinks your a horrible mom. I think as an "older" mom you are a bit more protective, but it all good.

First, Happy Birthday and I totally know what you mean about being on the downhill part of life. I already feel that way just because of all the exciting things that happen in your 20s. As for the Draper open house, I was stationed at the exit of the temple as people headed through the tunnel to the stake center. I couldn't believe how many people blew right out of there and seriously never looked side to side as they left--it is such a beautiful waiting area. I could do a whole blog post on that topic. Finally, I can't believe Jacob has that awful virus. How terrible that there is no medicine for it. Is it hand foot and mouth? What a nightmare. Poor little guy.

Neal has been sick since Friday. Cough, runny nose. Keeping a watch on him. He also had shots on Friday. He seems to be getting better, I HOPE. Good luck!
