Did You Know??

Last week I decided to go and see the new Nordstroms. I thought they had just renovated their existing store--nope--they have a brand new building! Shows how long it has been since I've strolled through the Mall! At least a year. :)

Anyway, did you know they now sell Jimmy Choo shoes? I didn't. I was looking at them and thought, oh I've heard of these, but never seen one in person (like the shoe was a rare or exotic animal). I now know why I'd never seen one...do you know how much this shoe costs? $625! I turned it over and looked at the price and about choked. That could be 2 car payments, almost rent on some apartments, 1/3 of BYU semester tuition payment! I want to go and try some on--to see if they transport you without you having to do any work. At that price they should--I would fall down on that high of a heel--so they'd need to transport me.

Then there was another shoe I picked up, but couldn't find a picture of it. But is cost as much as this sandal--guess...........$825 buck-a-roos! For sandals!!

Did you know that if you take a pyrex glass bowl, like this one,

and rinse it in the sink, then accidentally drop it into the sink (the fall was only about 2 inches), at the right angle, it can do this to your sink without breaking?

I feel like I have an old sink from the depression era now. And, short of replacing it, there isn't too much you can to cover the black chip. Bummer! Oh well. At least I have a bowl and a sink. Some people don't even have that! :)

Good grief, about the shoes. Sorry about your sink, that's a bummer. I'm with you on at least we have a home and bowls, sinks, etc. and they all age, some with a bit of help!

I'm with you - I feel so out of place in the mall anymore! Hey - there is a chip repair on the market that should cover up that ding. Home Depot should be able to direct you to the right product. I took a chip out of our stove the first month we had it. I still know the chip is there but it is white so others don't notice so quickly.

I had a very similar experience at Nordstrom tonight. I picked up a pair of flipflops. There was no tag. I asked the worker how much they were. He said $169.00. I didn't believe him. They were flip flops. Apparently the sparkly things were real crystals on them. Unbelievable. I buy most of my shoes at TJ Maxx so I don't understand paying any more than about $39.99. Oddly enough, I have a chip exactly like that in my bathroom sink. I don't know how it happened.

My mom said she saw you and Jacob at the park today. She thought Jacob was adorable.

Yeah, I am so hard on shoes (and sinks). If they only made cheap stainless steel shoes I would be in business, because it holds up great in the kitchen!

Isn't it ridiculous what people will pay for some thing? Gadzooks! Brand names just aren't my thing.

That's why I stick to my under $10 shoe budget. I want my children to at least have 1/3 of a semester at BYU. :)

Wow. No wonder why I haven't seen any of those shoes either. And how sad that people will still be buying them as others are strugling to pay rent, buy groceries, or find a job.

P.S. Glad you had a great birthday! I never would have guessed your age. You still look the way I remember you . . . was that really 7 years ago?

You could get several sinks or a pair of shoes? Which would you rather? And I thought I was cheap because I don't want to pay $19.99 for Matthew's sneakers.

The crazy thing is that where I live, so many people are walking around in $600+ shoes - and the purses to match. Today I saw a woman decked out from head to toe in Louis Vuitton and Burberry, daintily eating a slice of pizza in the Costco food court. I guess she's choosing clothing over food!

wow. i'm saving up for a dslr right now, and the camera i want doesn't even cost that much! again, wow. i can't believe someone would actually spend that much money on one pair of shoes.

You know what you have that I envy? Soft water! I can tell by the glass bowl - no hard water stains, you lucky duck! See there's always a silver lining:0)

BTW, I also agree about the shoes. How in the world can a manufacturer justify the $825 price for flimsy sandals. I don't get it. What's wierder is that people pay it! I could never see spending that much on a pair of shoes or a purse for that matter. I'd rather take a trip! Or buy a water-softener:0)
